PIKETON, Ohio – Landowners interested in joining a cooperative to bolster the market for white pines in Ohio can learn more at meetings March 12 and 13.
The basis behind Ohio Premium Pine Producers Cooperative is that landowners with small acreage can join together and attract more offers than if they were acting as an individual landowner, said Travis West, program coordinator.
Meetings. The membership meeting March 12 is at Guernsey County Soil and Water Conservation District, 9711 East Pike, Cambridge, Ohio, 1-4 p.m.
The meeting March 13 is 1-4 p.m. at Athens County Extension, 280 West Union St., Athens, Ohio.
At both informational meetings, participants will learn more about the cooperative and receive a membership packet.
West said the cooperative aims to provide members with assistance in developing management plans, marketing, supervising logging and developing contracts with buyers.
The concentration of pine owners is in southeast Ohio, however, the program is statewide and open to anyone in Ohio.
