Pioneer finalizes purchase of Doebler’s

DES MOINES, Iowa — DuPont business Pioneer Hi-Bred announced June 3 it has closed the acquisition of Doebler’s PA Hybrids, Jersey Shore, Pa., as part of its Pioneer Hi-Bred PROaccess business strategy.

The terms were not disclosed. Doebler’s has served customers in the eastern United States for more than 76 years with corn, soybeans, alfalfa and grass seed lines. Doebler’s distributes Pioneer corn hybrids and soybean varieties under the Pioneer-owned RPM brand.

Pioneer will continue its distribution agreements with other independent seed companies as previously announced: Beck’s Hybrids, Atlanta, Ind., distributor of XLTM brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties; and Burrus Hybrids, Arenzville, Ill., distributor of Power Plus brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties.

Growing distribution

In December 2010, Pioneer closed the acquisitions of Hoegemeyer Hybrids, Hooper, Neb., distributor of HPT brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties; NuTech Seed, Ames, Iowa, distributor of G2 brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties; Seed Consultants, Washington Court House, Ohio, distributor of Supreme EX brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties; and AgVenture, Inc., Kentland, Ind., which distributes VPMaxx brand corn hybrids and soybean varieties through its 39 independently owned and managed regional seed companies.
