Schmack BioEnergy acquires company

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Schmack BioEnergy, a Cleveland-based waste management and renewable energy company, has acquired Biogas Technologies Unlimited, LLC, a biogas upgrade technology company.

New division

To head-up this new division, Schmack has hired Alan Johnson to focus on integrating Biogas Technologies Unlimited into the biogas marketplace.

Johnson has more than 30 years of manufacturing experience with a focus on product development and customer relationship management.

Biogas Technologies Unlimited technology will be sold in the biogas marketplace with units available off the shelf or within 90 days with performance warranties.

Biogas

Biogas is a renewable energy source that can affordably supplement 30 percent of the traditional fossil fuels used domestically.

Schmack BioEnergy was jointly formed with Schmack Biogas AG, a leading anaerobic digestion company based in Germany with almost 300 plants operating or under construction worldwide.

Laboratory facility

Schmack houses a laboratory facility at The Ohio State University’s Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster, Ohio.

  1. Question: What is done with the residue after anaerobic digestion has been completed? Are the anaerobic microbes sensitive to temperature changes? How much of the intrinsic energy in sewage is extracted with anaerobic digestion and how much remains with the residue?
