LAKE GENEVA, Wis. — Wisconsin TV/video producer Tom Laughlin, Kovia Productions, Lake Geneva, Wis., is searching the country for more old barn stories following the success of his first two PBS programs on the subject.

First program

Laughlin completed his first program, Wisconsin Barns — Touchstones to the Past, in 2005 and saw an immediate response to the piece.

The program was completed with the editing help of Wisconsin Public Television and was later placed on the PBS national satellite system for availability to PBS stations around the country.

Following the success of the first program, Laughlin has created the base for a running series that looks not just at old barns, but the overall story of agriculture then and now.

Special stories

Toward that end, Laughlin is searching for special stories about special, old barns from around the country.

The title of the second show is American Barn Stories and Other Tales From the Heartlands.

This will also be the working title for the new series.

Laughlin would like anyone with an interesting old barn story from anywhere in the country to contact him to tell him their story.

  1. Word to the wise before you welcome a “documentarian” into your property – some dairy farmers by the Mounds were recently complaining at a county breakfast that the video man was asked to leave a property after unwelcomed advances on their 4h boy. fyi!
