W.Va. quilt show set for June 7-8

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. – The Panhandle Piecemakers 18th annual Quilt Show will be held June 7-8 at the John D. Rockefeller Career Center in New Cumberland.

The hours for the show will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days. Admission to the show is $3. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

Raffle quilt. The raffle quilt for this year’s quilt show is titled “Fall Harvest” which represents the theme of the show. Raffle tickets for the quilt are available from any Panhandle Piecemaker member or at the show for $1 a ticket.

Entering quilts or quilted items in the show is open to the public. All items must be registered June 5 between 1-6 p.m. at the John D. Rockefeller Career Center.

All entries must be left on display until 7 p.m. Saturday evening, and will be available for pick-up after 7:30 p.m., following the close of the quilt show.

Each person who registers an item will receive a free pass to view the show. Participants can choose to have their quilted items judged and displayed, or displayed only.

This year’s quilt judge, Elizabeth Granholm from Morgantown, W.Va., will be giving out ribbons in 15 selected categories.

Appraisals. Granholm will also be appraising quilts and will be available by appointment June 5 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Contact Lois Carpini at 304-723-3027 for an appointment.

Other features of the show will be quilt merchants, demonstrations, and a luncheon provided by the Zollers Catering Service.

JUNE 7

* 11 a.m. – Shadow Redwork by Eva Ramsey.

* 1 p.m. – Color Selection and Placement by Marlies Brandt.

* 3 p.m. – Designing and Mitering Borders by Marlies Brandt.

JUNE 8

* 11 a.m. – Quilting Tips and Tricks III by Dorothy Ford.

* 1 p.m. – Trunk Show by Pauly Welch.

* 3 p.m. – Demonstration just for Kid’s by Judy Metzger and Margie VanKirk.
