Cherry Tart

Recipe by: Ed Farkas and Dolores Eckhardt Farkas

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 2 sticks butter/margarine
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • cans of cherry pie filling

Directions:

  1. Mix dry ingredients and butter together using a pastry blender. Mix eggs, sour cream, milk and vanilla together and add to dry ingredients. Set 1 cup of dough aside. Press remaining dough into baking sheet.
  2. Roll cup of dough OUT to approximately ¼ inch thickness and cut into ½ inch strips for top.
  3. Spread cherry filling into the pan and play strips on top in a lattice pattern. Brush with egg white or milk.
  4. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes.
