Pennsylvania is figuring out how to get more energy storage in the state as it looks to create a resilient, reliable clean energy grid. One area of opportunity is putting battery storage with the many solar projects proposed to be built in the state.

Public hearings are scheduled in Ohio for four proposed utility-scale solar farms that would cover more than 8,000 acres of land and generate more than 800 megawatts of power.

As electric vehicles become more commonplace and affordable, it begs the question when will electric tractors and other farm equipment become a reality in ag states like Ohio? Major manufacturers like John Deere and Kubota are working up prototypes, but there are still many challenges ahead.

The country's largest manufacturer of solar panels broke ground on its third production facility in northwest Ohio. First Solar's new plant will bring the company’s total annual stateside production capacity up to 6 GW, which the company claims will make it more competitive with China.

Republic Wind wants another shot at building a wind farm, arguing that the Ohio Power Siting Board put too much stock in local opposition to the project. The Ohio Power Siting Board voted in June to deny the application, finding the proposal would not serve the public interest and could not minimize its environmental impacts.

The Ohio Power Siting Board will hold a local public hearing Sept. 28 regarding a proposal to build a 100 megawatt solar farm in Marion County. The project would cover about 970 acres and include a 20 MW battery storage system.

More than 40 ethanol plants said in a letter sent to President Joe Biden that they support the goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 50% by 2030 and hit net zero by 2050. The list of signatories includes one Ohio ethanol plant, Guardian Lima LLC, in Lima, Ohio.

The Ohio Power Siting Board will hold a local public hearing regarding AEUG Union Solar, LLC’s proposal to build a 325 megawatt solar farm, in Union County. The project would cover about 2,013 acres within a 3,355-acre project area, in Washington and York townships.
