Whether or not you have a “green thumb” don’t miss this opportunity to learn about container gardening as Salem Public Library hosts a visit from Ellen Speicher on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the library’s Quaker Room at 821 E. State St., Salem, OH.

Growing plants in containers has become increasingly popular as an easy and convenient way to garden in small areas, capable of providing beautiful color along with fresh vegetables and herbs for cooking. Learn more about successfully growing plants in pots, with specific tips for growing beautiful flowering plants, healthy vegetables and aromatic herbs on your porch, balcony or tabletop with a minimum of expense and effort.

After graduating from Youngstown State University with a degree in Biology, Ellen Speicher worked at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh, PA, as Director of Horticulture before coming to Mill Creek MetroParks in 2004. She served as the Assistant Horticulture Director at Fellows Riverside Gardens from 2004 – 2014. She now teaches classes in horticulture and gives programs on many gardening topics to garden clubs, Master Gardeners & civic and community groups.

Join us for this program that is open to the public and free of cost to attend. Reserve your seat online at www.salem.lib.oh.us or call the library for registration assistance at 330-332-0042.
