Angus breeders compete at state show

OLD WASHINGTON, Ohio – John Hausner, Dover, Pa., judged 138 entries at the 2001 Ohio Angus Preview Show, June 30, in Old Washington, Ohio.

Ohio Angus breeders paraded 109 females, 20 bulls and nine cow-calf pairs.

Grand champion bull. Maplecrest Gladiator claimed grand champion bull. He is a January 2000 son of Famous 7001 and was first named junior champion bull. L&L Angus and Charles Deitrick and family, both of Zanesville, Ohio, own the winning entry.

The reserve junior division winner was named reserve grand champion bull and is owned by Kiata Farms, Hamilton, Ohio. Kiata Hunter 0614 is a February 1999 son of G A R Sleep Easy 1009.

Grand champion female. Champion Hill Phyllis 1868 claimed grand champion female honors. Fairlane Farm, Louisville, Ohio, owns the January 2000 daughter of Famous 7001. She first won junior champion.

Kimberly Evans, Gallipolis, Ohio, led the reserve grand champion female. Sunset Valley Cheyenne 943 is a September 1999 daughter of Leachman Saugahatchee 3000C and first won senior champion female.

Kevin Gallagher, Union, Ky., judged 102 entries at the 2001 Ohio Junior Angus Show held June 29 in Old Washington, Ohio.

Ohio Angus breeders paraded 77 females, seven bulls, eight steers and eight cowcalf pairs.

Bred-and-owned female. Kevin Majors, Monroe, Ohio, led the grand champion bred-and-owned female. Majors Pearlette 220 is the February 2000 daughter of Famous 700 1. She first claimed junior champion.

Kingsway Natalie 120 claimed reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. Jamie King, Tiffin, Ohio, led the July 2000 daughter of Rito 9FB3 of 5H I I Fullback. She first won intermediate champion.

Lindsey Grimes, Hillsboro, Ohio, led the grand champion owned female. Maplecrest R B C Pride 025 is the February 2000 daughter of Fink Johnson 81 of 5113 6148. She first won junior champion owned heifer.

Bred-and-owned bull. B H Kiata New Limit 021 won grand champion bred-and-owned bull honors. 0 G L Battle Cry 427 is the sire of the September 2000 entry. Justin Brosey, Hamilton, Ohio, owns the winning entry.

Kyle Penick, Hebron, Ohio, led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Way View Doc 907 is the April 2000 son of Stevenson Fortune 425C.

Grand champion steer. B A F Shooter 6030 claimed grand champion steer and is owned by Jody Gahler, Graytown, Ohio. He is a March 2000 son of Jacs Emulation 6583.

Heidi White, Hamilton, Ohio, owns the reserve grand champion steer. W L Shine is a February 2000 son of Guiriners Choice.
