Atlatls and flint: Primitive camp weekend planned

DOVER, Ohio – All bowyers, atlatl throwers and flint-knappers are invited to spend the weekend at Camp Tuscazoar June 15 and 16 for a primitive gathering.

Activities begin at 9 a.m. on both days. Saturday’s events wrap up at 5 p.m. and Sunday’s events conclude at 3 p.m.

There will be activities for all levels of expertise, including practice and challenge ranges for the archers and the atlatl throwers.

Highlighting the weekend will be the bowyers going from axe to wax, the flint-knappers from rocks to points and the International Standard Accuracy Contest for the atlatl throwers.

Saturday’s events will include an auction of hand-crafted items to benefit Camp Tuscazoar.

Food, group tent sites and shared cabins will be available. Vendors are welcome.

Camp Tuscazoar, 6066 Boy Scout Road, in Dover is accessed from Ohio Route 212, east of Ohio Route 800.
