KIRTLAND, Ohio – The 10th annual Vintage Poster Art Auction is May 25 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Columbus, Ohio.

The auction features more than 650 lots of movie memorabilia, dating from the 1910s through the 1980s.

Silent era posters. Highlights of the auction include 20 original Essanay Studios posters from 1913 to 1916, most of which are the only existing copies of these stone lithographic posters.

In addition, an original Three Musketeer one-sheet (a 27-by-41 inch poster), and two different styles of the 1921 Robin Hood one- sheet will be featured. Both films star Douglas Fairbanks Sr.

Another highlight is a title card (an 11-by-14 inch poster) from The Babe Comes Home, a feature film starring Babe Ruth. The card is estimated at $12,000-15,000.

Other lots will sell for as little as $150.

Part of convention. The auction will be the centerpiece of the four-day Cinevent, a convention of film buffs, dealers, and collectors, from throughout the United States and Europe.

The convention will feature non-stop film screenings, presented in 16 mm and 35 mm, and over 150 dealer tables of films and movie memorabilia.

Richard Allen, noted film poster historian, will host a visual presentation on the art of the short subject movie poster. He will show and discuss many rare examples of these posters from the 1920s through the 19405.

The auction begins at 1:30 p.m., May 25. There will be a break for dinner, and the second session will begin at 7 p.m.
