SALEM, Ohio – The Children of Chernobyl program started in 1992 by Sheila Blake, formerly of Salem.

Blake brought healthy children out of Belarus for 2 months in the summer. This gives the children the opportunity to eat uncontaminated food, drink water without radiation and breath healthy air in rural Ohio and Pennsylvania. Statistics show for every 30 days the children are away from the contamination of their country, they are given back two years of their life.

For information or to host a Chernobyl child contact Joe Knable at 330-565-5519.
