Farm permits issued in three counties

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Agriculture issued final permits to operate for 14 farms in three counties.

The 14 farms listed below were granted permits to operate under the new large livestock and poultry farm permitting law. Each of the farms houses chickens and has a total design capacity of either 135,000 birds or 170,000 birds.

Purpose. The permits to operate regulate farm operations with plans for manure management, insect and rodent control, mortality management and emergency response.

Stark. Permits to operate in Stark County were granted to: Alberta Beach Farm, Alberta Beach Road, Louisville; East Beeson Farm, Beeson East, Louisville; LK Poultry, Union Avenue, Alliance; North Preston Farm, Ravenna Road, Louisville; Reeder Poultry, Reeder Road, Alliance; St. Peters Church Farm, St. Peters Church Road, Louisville and West Beeson Farm, Beeson West, Louisville.

Columbiana. Permits to operate in Columbiana County were granted to V.I.Z. Poultry, Bandy Road, Homeworth.

Mahoning. Permits to operate in Mahoning County were granted to Big Muddy Acres, Martin Road, Alliance; General Poultry, Courtney Road, Alliance; J&M Poultry, Oyster Road, Alliance; Pine Tree Farms, North Benton West, North Benton; Red Rose Farms, Courtney Road, Alliance and Willow Creek Poultry, Best Road, Alliance.

Appeals. These final permits can be appealed within 30 days of the Environmental Review Appeals Commission, 309 South Fourth St., Room 222, Columbus, OH 43215.

A copy of the appeal must be served on the director of agriculture within three days after filing the appeal with the appeals commission.
