BUTLER, Pa. – The Farm Service Agency has combined the Beaver/Allegheny County Farm Service Agency Office with the Butler County Farm Service Agency Office.

Program technician Shirley Schwartz; will be reassigned to the Butler/Beaver/Allegheny Service Center located at 602 Evans City Rd., Butler, Pa.

Beaver office. The Farm Service Agency will maintain a satellite office at 1000 3rd Street, Beaver, Pa. Current plans call for the satellite office to be staffed the first and third Wednesday of each month from the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The phone number for the satellite office is 724-775-2369. Calls made to this number during normal business hours will roll to the Butler Service Center. This should minimize toll calls for producers in Beaver and Allegheny Counties.

The offices were combined because producer servicing, program administration and agency funding can be better supported with the combination of the Butler and Beaver/Allegheny Service Centers.

Alternatives. Office combinations can adversely affect some producers. Accordingly, for the 2002 and subsequent program years, producers who were served by the combined County FSA Office will be able to select the service center from which they choose to be served if such office is significantly more convenient for them.

Because your original County Office in Beaver/Allegheny has been required to combine with the Butler County FSA Office, producers may select any office contiguous to their home county as an alternative if the office closure creates a significant disadvantage or inconvenience.

This selection will apply for all programs for the next crop year and subsequent crop years. Farms will be considered as administratively located in the county selected for all program purposes.

To request an alternative office apply to the Butler County FSA Office no later than Nov. 1, 2002. Include a statement of how this choice will be significantly more convenient. Requests are subject to County Committee approval.

If the agency does not hear from farmers by Nov. 1, 2002 farming operation will continue to be serviced from Butler. This is a one-time choice for producers affected by office combinations.
