ASHLAND, Ohio — The Mapleton FFA chapter held a winter dance on Dec. 18. A used coat or hats and gloves were required to enter the dance. Proceeds were given to the Salvation Army to help those in need this winter.

HILLSDALE, Ohio — The Hillsdale FFA Parliamentary Procedure team competed at the State contest Dec.19 in Columbus. The Parliamentary Procedure CDE is an assessment of students’ abilities to participate effectively in a business meeting or other group decision-making situation. The team placed first in the preliminary round of the state competition.

Placing first in the preliminary round qualified the team to compete in the state finals. In the state finals, the team competed against four other teams who won their preliminary heat. Hillsdale earned third place in this round of competition.

The members included McKenzie Stimmell, president; Kelsey Eberly, vice president; Kristen Deter, secretary; Hannah Shock, treasurer; Sarah Bookman, reporter; Michael Schuck, sentinel; Morgan Austin, student advisor; and members: Dylan Mullins, Stephanie Schuck, and Matt Zimmerman. Ashlee Cutlip was the team’s alternate.

The Hillsdale FFA Chapter hosted an Ohio FFA Leadership Night Dec. 16. Students from Hillsdale, as well as others from Loudonville, Western Reserve, and the Wayne County Career Center attended. At the Leadership Night, students attended three leadership sessions presented by state FFA officers.
