CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Five members of the Zane Trace FFA Chapter traveled to Camp Muskingum near Carrollton, Ohio for the first session of Ohio FFA Summer Camp, June 6-10. During camp, FFA’ers get to know other FFA members from around Ohio by dividing into groups and competing in various events and contests as a team. Students could also take part in various leadership building events including a high ropes course, obstacle challenges and group meetings.

Senior members participated in a community service project with the Carroll County MRDD, conducting a sports themed day at camp for adults in the MRDD programs. Members attending included Kevin and Karlee Daubenmire, Ann and Katie Shelby and Cassidy Corcoran.

BERLIN, Ohio — Hiland FFA members kicked off their summer with a community service project. The chapter participated in a work day at the new Holmes County Fairgrounds, also known as Harvest Ridge. The fair moved to a new location because of the flood issues at the old fairgrounds. Harvest Ridge has work days coming up. Every Saturday the fair has workdays from 8:30 a.m.-noon, at the new fairgrounds.

In June, the chapter sent five members to Ohio FFA Camp at Camp Muskingum. They were Bailey Engstrom, Carson Feikert, Natalie Lovell, Tallie Troyer, and Diane Yoder.

MILLERSBURG, Ohio — Over Memorial Day weekend, the Hiland FFA Chapter held its annual Hiland FFA Jackpot Show. This year’s show, held at the Mount Hope Auction, started with the West Holmes FFA Mid Ohio Lamb Classic and continued with showmanship classes and the Hiland FFA Jackpot Show in the afternoon. Hiland and West Holmes FFA Chapters hosted the shows in partnership with the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association LEAD.

Throughout the show, 176 lambs were judged by Ryan Grimme. Winners included: Grand champion, Kristen Augustine; reserve champion, Mason Will; third overall, Ian Johnshon; fourth overall, Ava Shroyer; fifth overall, Kole Justin; grand champion ewe, Ava Shroyer; and reserve champion ewe, Seth Walsaluski.
