Giving Rocky the boot

Editor:

We were very disappointed to read Mike Tontimonia’s column promoting Rocky Boots, an Ohio company that now manufactures overseas (“Rocky Boots jumped country, but not quality,” May 8, 2003).

Quality may not be the issue for those people who lost their jobs in south central Ohio, however, we feel the quality of the Rocky product would have to suffer by using substandard foreign labor.

We will never again patronize the Rocky Boot Company and feel that if other loyal Americans would do the same it might make the Rocky company rethink their offshore production.

If Rocky Boot Company was saving so much money with offshore production of their boots, it’s funny the prices seem to remain the same.
