Hometown artist to be honored in Carrollton

CARROLLTON, Ohio – Lynn Fox, a local artist from Carrollton, will show more than 40 of his paintings as the June featured artist at the Carroll County Commission for Advancement of the Arts Center, 204 W. Main St., Carrollton, Ohio.

Fox, who works primarily in watercolors, pen and ink, has been a Carroll County artist for more than 40 years.

Cartoonist. Fox is the creator of John cartoons, paintings and drawings of outhouses.

The cartoons, which ran from 1986-1996 in the Times Reporter newspaper, are collected in a book called John Remembered, published in 2001.

His works have been accepted in numerous local shows, the All-Ohio show, private and corporate collections, and in the U.S. Air Force Art Collection at the Pentagon. Corporate work includes a series of paintings depicting baseball’s most famous players.

Politician. He operated a photographic studio in Carrollton for 27 years and served three terms as the town’s mayor.

Fox will be present at a reception in his honor June 22 from 1-4 p.m. at the arts center.

Entertainment. The Coleman Family of St. Clairsville will give a concert of bluegrass, old time and gospel music at 2 p.m. that day.

Performances are free and open the public and will be held outside, weather permitting. N. High Street will be closed for extra seating outdoors. Spectators should bring their own lawn chairs.
