Layoffs occur at John Deere Harvester Works

MOLINE, Ill. — Three hundred and sixty-seven manufacturing employees of the John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, Ill., were placed on indefinite layoff due to reduced market demand for the factory’s products, according to Deere and Company.

The layoffs affect production workers with the least seniority and took effect Sept. 21.

Consistent with earlier projections, most of the remaining manufacturing employees at Harvester Works also will started four weeks of inventory adjustment shutdown and two weeks of vacation shutdown Sept. 21.

The John Deere Harvester Works manufactures combines and front-end equipment for harvesting.
