Farm organization is worth the money

I have been farming in southwest Ashtabula County for more than 50 years. About 14 years ago, a fellow farmer and friend, Bob Cotterman, stopped by and told me about a farm organization that focused primarily on family farmers and consumers. This organization gives a nonpartisan, grassroots voice to our local, state, and national policy and government.

After hearing about the many achievements of the Ohio Farmers Union, I signed up and have been a member ever since.

Farmers Union was the leading voice on many farm bill priorities such as permanent disaster assistance, safety net for prices, the implementation of mandatory country-of-origin food labeling (COOL), support for research and development in the next generation of renewable fuels.

Farmers Union has given me the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. to meet face-to-face with members of Congress to tell lawmakers what is happening on my farm and in my local community. This is just one of the many benefits of being a member.

I’d like to tell others more about the opportunities Farmers Union can offer. I would like to invite anyone who would like to learn more about Ohio Farmers Union to call me at 440-474-9100.
