Lumber, woodlot workshop planned in Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio – Trees, wood and timber are the focus of Lumber from Your Woodlot, a workshop by the Ohio Woodland Stewards Program. The program will be presented July 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Wooster.

Registration, which includes class materials, measuring sticks, lunch and refreshments, is $25.

Topics of interest. Among the topics to be discussed include safe cutting, moving logs, sawing strategies, caring for and treating lumber, and Ohio tree species and which ones yield useful products.

Also covered will be wood identification, how to grow quality timber, how to measure trees, and how to grade and scale logs.

There will be indoor and outdoor presentations. Participants should dress for the weather.

Enrollment is limited to 50 people. Pre-registration with payment is required. The deadline is July 3.
