Niche pork the focus of conference

BRYAN, Ohio – Pork producers interested in nontraditional pork markets have the opportunity to attend the Swine Niche Pork Producer Conference Jan. 23 at the Ramada Conference Center in Bryan-Montpelier, Ohio.
Ohio State University Extension is partnering with Michigan State University Extension and the National Pork Board to provide pork producers with scientific-based information on niche markets and customer-valued products.
Topics. The conference will begin at 8:30 a.m. Topics include: consumer trends and buying potential, supply systems, producer marketing associations, grant availability, production costs associated with alternative feeding systems, marketing a niche product, and niche pork production.
Participants will also hear from niche pork producers on how they develop and market their product.

Details. Early registration of $30 is due by Jan. 16. Registration at the door is $35. The fee covers materials, refreshments and lunch.
