Ohio’s annual food, farm conference set

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association’s 24th annual conference, “Food from Home: Creating Sustainable Local Food Systems,” will be March 8-9.

The conference will be at Northridge School in Johnstown, Ohio.

Experts from Ohio and around the country will share sustainable agriculture production and marketing techniques through workshops and keynote speeches.

Presenters include: Anna Lappé, co-author of Hope’s Edge: The Next Diet for a Small Planet; John Ikerd, agricultural economist; and Don Bustos, an organic farmer and local marketing specialist.

Topics. The conference will feature more than 40 workshops on sustainable and organic food production, marketing and networking.

Workshops include beekeeping, winter gardening, online marketing and research for small farms, nutrition and cooking, farmland preservation, community gardening, pastured poultry and processing, soil testing, tractor maintenance and marketing.

Other activities will include a children’s conference, a trade show for ecological entrepreneurs, a contra dance and locally produced organic meals prepared by chef David Tidd in cooperation with Creative Cuisine of Columbus.

Registration fees begin at $60. Volunteer discounts are available.
