Pa. show draws 128 Simmental entries

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Haven Woods Farms of Stoneboro, Pa., showed the grand champion bull at the 2005 Pa. State Farm.
There were 128 head of Simmental shown
The champion bull, HWF Platinum, is a 3-10-04 SS Goldmine son out of Haven Woods Farms’ donor cow, THC Blackbird M50 II.
Platinum was also calf champion at the 2004 New York State Fair and reserve calf champion at 2004 Keystone International Livestock Expo.
Haven Woods Farms also received honors as premier breeder and exhibitor at this year’s farm show.
The reserve grand champion bull, Shoemaker’s Real Deal, is owned by Bill and Natushka Shoemaker, Manns Choice, Pa.
Real Deal is an April bull calf sired by the Denver champion, WAR Nitro bull and the donor cow, Bonina Sweet Rose 4031D, who is co-owned by Shoemaker and Woolcock Farms, of Orangeville, Pa.
Along with two half brothers, Real Deal was also a winner in the “get-of sire” category.
Heifer champions. The grand champion heifer, Nitros MS Eclipse N160, is owned by Wayne and Brenda Stough and family of Spring Grove, Pa.
Eclipse’s dam, LCF Eclipse, was champion cow-calf pair two years in a row at the Farm Show and her sire was WAR Nitro.
The reserve grand champion heifer, THC Elvira 162N, is owned by Dennis Madonna, of Grantville, Pa..
She was sired by Westfall Crossfire and her dam was Westfall Elvira 647L. She was senior calf champion heifer at the 2004 Keystone International Livestock Expo and she won her class at the North American International Livestock Expo in November.
