Painted lamp brings $2,500 for Shriners’ hospital

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The North West Chapter of the Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association held its 26th annual auction to benefit the Shriners’ childrens hospital Feb. 9.

A reverse painted lamp was the high selling item, bringing $2500 on the block. Other items included two antique duck decoys, $180 each; a $20 gold piece, $500; an Indian head gold piece, $300; a $5 gold piece, $200; and a threshers table, $300.

The antique and collectibles auction, with donations from the Amish community and others, helped the sale reach approximately $22,000. More than 200 registered bidders from Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Connecticut attended, in addition to association officers Nevin Rentzel, Jim Clayton, Olen Knecht, and Scott Younkin.
