SUGARCREEK, Ohio – Richard and Diane Hicks of Ragersville Swiss Cheese took home grand champion honors in the 2007 Ohio Swiss Cheese Association contest.
The award was announced at the Ohio Swiss Festival Sept. 28-29.
Reserve champion cheese and cheesemaker honors went to Steve Ottiger of Guggisberg Cheese Co., Millersburg.
Other entries were from John Fankhauser and Chad Schindler of Broad Run Dairy, Dover; Pearl Valley Cheese Co., Fresno; and Stanley Mullet of Steiner Cheese, Ltd., Baltic.
Judges were Mark Coblentz and Bill Yaggi, cheese buyers, and Paul Mueller and Mickey Schmid, former cheesemakers.
All cheese was judged Grade A.
