CANTON, Ohio – Stark County residents have reported rumors of a proposed dairy farm inside Canton city limits to Farm and Dairy staff.
A Feb. 2 article published in the Canton Repository said Jeff Weisel and Steve DiPietro, manager of Papa Bear’s Pizza Oven in the Belden Village area, are planning a 1,200-cow dairy farm. An estimated 25 acres are needed for the project, which includes an enclosed building to house the herd. The plan also includes use of the city’s sewer system.
According to the article, Canton Mayor Richard Watkins said three sites are being considered, including one near a Republic Technologies International plant in the city.
Todd Locke, Weisel’s public relations representative, said plans are not finalized and the group continues to look at options. DiPietro was not available for comment.
