Weather report: Nice working weather

MILLPORT, Ohio – April was off to a slow start for nice weather, but after the middle of the month, farmers had nice working weather, according to Edwin R. Copeland, U.S. weather observer, reporting from his post in southern Columbiana County.

Yet, farmers will still need above average rain, Copeland said.

The high temperature for the month was 81 degrees recorded April 16. The low temperature was 27 degrees recorded April 27.

April saw 9 days of rain with only one amounting to a good rain.

The 110-year averages for April are: 48.7 degrees, 3.88 inches of rain and 55 percent sunshine.

Averages for April 2003 are: 51 degrees, 2.14 inches of rain and 60 percent sunshine.
