Western Pa. breeder brings home first KILE supreme title

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The first-ever Beef Supreme Champion Pageant capped off a successful week of shows at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Keystone International Livestock Exposition (KILE) in Harrisburg.
Fourteen breed-winning females paraded through the arena Oct. 8, competing for the supreme champion female banner.
The top honor went to the winning Shorthorn heifer, CF Roan Rose 54 TPX ET, exhibited by Cates Farm and Caney Valley Farms of Modock, Ind.
The supreme champion bull, chosen from 13 breed winners, went to the 2-year-old champion Hereford, CS GPR Rock 22P, owned by Stockdale Farms, Dayton, Pa.; Grandview Plantation, Como, Miss.; and CSR Polled Hereford Farm, Alapaha, Ga.
A panel of 14 judges, representing each of the beef breeds, voted on the breed winners to select the overall champions.
