W.Va. railroad buffs can take train ride to war re-enactment

WEIRTON, W.Va. – The Wellsburg Historical Railroad Society is sponsoring its last bus trip of the season this time to ride the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad just south of Cleveland.

Participants will ride the train back in time to witness the Union and Confederate troops transform the grounds of Hale Farm and Village into a re-enactment battle.

The event, scheduled for Aug. 10, is open to the public. The bust will depart from Weirton at 6 a.m. and return after 8:30 p.m.

The trip costs $85 for adults and teenagers, $80 for senior citizens 62 and older, and $75 for children 2 to 12.

The price includes the bus ride, the train ride, a box lunch at Hale, and the re-enactment. A stop not covered by the trip cost will be made near New Philadelphia, Ohio, for dinner on the way home.

Deadline for reservations is July 9. Reservations will be on a first paid, first served basis.
