Virginia M. “Sis” Sayre

RANDOLPH, Ohio — Virginia M. “Sis” Sayre, 79, of Randolph passed away March 1 at Akron City Hospital. Born May 6, 1929 in Batavia, N.Y., to the late Carl and Pat Snyder, Sis was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

While living in Florida, she worked many years for Gressinger and Sons as a secretary where she met her husband, Ernie. After moving to Ohio in 1972, she worked as a secretary for the Northern Ohio Quarter Horse Association.

Sis became involved with the Portage County Fair as a 4-H adviser and as the fair secretary from 1991 to 2009 where she devoted many hours of service and made many friends.

She knitted hundreds of sweaters for needy children in her spare time. She loved watching her great grandchildren participate in all their activities, as well as collecting bears and angels.

Sis is survived by her husband Ernest Sayre, daughter Cindy Faller of North Canton, daughter Connie Foster of Randolph, brother Ronald Snyder of Brasstown, N.C., two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Interment took place March 5 at Hillside Cemetery in Randolph, Ohio, officiated by Reverend James Lang.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Randolph Fire Department in appreciation for their devoted care and service.
