Yield: 10-12 onion patties
Ingredients:
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 Tbsp. cornmeal
- 2 tsp. hot sauce, or to taste
- 2 1/2 cups chopped onions, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- For serving ranch dressing
Directions:
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, seasonings and cornmeal in a large bowl. Mix in chopped onions and hot sauce. Pour in milk and mix well with a spoon.
- Heat oil in a skillet on the stove top. Drop by spoonfuls into hot oil. Cook on one side until brown, and flip to cook on the other side. Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup full of batter for each patty. You can add more oil to the skillet if needed while frying.
- Serve with ranch dressing.
