Kentucky Derby Day Sliders

The Kentucky Derby is May 3!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb. deli turkey slices
  • 6 to 8 slices gouda cheese
  • 1 pkg. 2 dinner rolls
  • 1/4 cup crumbled bacon
  • 1/3 cup chopped, sun dried tomatoes
  • 1 cup prepared Alfredo sauce
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp. dried parsley
  • 1/2 Tbsp. each garlic and onion powders
  • 1 Tbsp. sesame seeds

Directions:

  1. Cut rolls in half to remove the top half. Place the bottom of the rolls in a 9-by-13-inch casserole dish sprayed with non-stick spray or oil.
  2. Add half of the Alfredo sauce to the buns and spread with a spoon so that each roll is covered. Add half the slices of cheese. Layer the smoked or oven-oasted turkey on top of the sauce. Add the remainder of the sauce on top of the turkey slices and spread with a spoon, and then sprinkle the bacon and sun-dried tomatoes evenly across. Add the rest of the cheese to the top.
  3. Melt butter in a small saucepan with the brown sugar, parsley, black pepper, onion and garlic powders. Heat on low until the brown sugar is melted.
  4. Top the rolls with the “lids” of the buns. Pour the butter mixture over the tops of the rolls and use a pastry brush to brush the mixture all over the buns and in the crevices.
  5. Cover with a single piece of foil and bake at 375 F for 25 minutes until the cheese is melted. Uncover, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and bake 7 to 10 minutes more until the tops are golden brown.
