Stuffed Bell Peppers



  • 6 green peppers (bell)
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 1/2 cups instant rice
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 egg
  • Contents of 1 env. French?s meatloaf seasoning mix
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • Directions

    Remove tops and seeds from green peppers. Simmer cleaned peppers (upright) for 5 minutes in 1/2? salted water. Drain and cool slightly before stuffing. (This step will eliminate the slightly bitter taste stuffed peppers often have.) Combine ground beef, rice and water, egg and contents of meatloaf seasoning mix. Spoon into peppers. Place in shallow casserole dish. Pour tomato sauce around peppers. Cover; bake at 400° about 1 hour, basting occasionally with tomato sauce. Serves 6.
