Tater Tot Pizza Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • ½ lb. Italian pork sausage ground
  • 1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 20 oz. spaghetti sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 4 oz. can sliced mushrooms
  • 32 oz. bag frozen tater tots
  • 2 1/2 cups Italian cheese blend, shredded
  • 40 slices pepperoni

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 F.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and sausage. Season with salt, Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Break meat apart into small pieces and cook until no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion and peppers, cook for 2 to 3 minutes until they start to soften. Add sauce and mushrooms along with any favorite additional toppings. Mix well and remove from heat.
  4. Place meat mixture in the bottom of a 9-by-13-inch or 3-quart baking dish sprayed with nonstick spray. Top with tater tots.
  5. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until tater tots are crispy. Remove from the oven and evenly spread cheese over the tater tots and top with pepperoni slices.
  6. Bake for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.
