Kelly McKelvey’s use of cover crops is just one of the reasons he was selected as Wayne Soil and Water Conservation District’s Cooperator of the Year. This rye grass, planted in the fall, is used to help lock in soil moisture, restore nutrients to the soil and serve as an additional forage for the dairy herd. (Catie Noyes)
