Writing Contest Rules
The writing contest is open to all children and adults. The following rules apply:
• The deadline to enter is Dec. 1.
• All authors must include their name, hometown and age on each entry.
Also, provide a way for us to contact you if you win. (Phone number or email
is OK. This will not be published.)
• The youth category will include all children in 12th grade and younger. Individual age groups will be formed depending on the number of
entries received.
• Both youth and adult entries must be typed and should be less than 500 words.
• Farm and Dairy staff members will judge all stories on creativity, originality and writing quality.
• One entry per person.
• You can participate even if you won last year, but give us something new to read.
• Winning stories from the youth category will be published in Farm and Dairy’s Dec. 24 issue.
• Winning stories from the adult category will be published in Farm and Dairy’s Dec. 31 issue.
• Send all entries to Farm and Dairy, Holiday Story Contest, P.O. Box 38, Salem, OH 44460, or e-mail them to kfoster@farmanddairy.com.
Art Contest Rules:
The art contest is only open to youth in grade 12 and under. The following rules apply:
• The deadline to enter is Dec. 1.
• Artists must include their name, hometown and age. Also, provide a way for us to contact you if you win. (Phone number or e-mail is OK. This will not be published.)
• One entry per person.
• All entries should have a holiday and farm theme.
• Artwork will be judged in two age groups. Those groups will be formed depending on the number of entries received.
• One winning entry from each age group will be printed on the covers of Farm and Dairy’s Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 issues.
• Farm and Dairy staff members will judge artwork on color, creativity and originality.
• Any medium is acceptable, but entries should be flat. (We have to be able to put it on a scanner to publish it.)
• Required dimensions are 81⁄2-by-11 inches and all entries should have a horizontal orientation.
• Do not fold mailed entries.
• You can participate even if you won last year, but give us something new.
