PLYMOUTH, Ohio — The Plymouth FFA chapter participated in FFA Week with a trip to Snow Trails and other school and lunch activities.

The chapter held farm tours for the students Feb. 21. They went to Finnish Farms and watched a live butcher of a pig and Ringler’s Maple Syrup taught the chapter the process of making maple syrup.

The chapter also visited Country Metals, Plymouth-Shiloh food pantry, Plymouth Locomotive Service and Felver’s Custom Cabinet shop.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Zane Trace FFA chapter celebrated FFA week with contests during lunch, a bowling trip, FFA trivia during school, a radio interview and a Harlem Shake video.

Members of the Zane Trace FFA Week Committee shared information about FFA Week and the chapter’s activities in an interview on WBEX radio station.

Tuesday through Thursday, while school was in session, the FFA hosted activities including contests at lunch, potato sack races and relay races.

Zane Trace chapter members also went bowling at Shawnee Lanes.

LOUDONVILLE, Ohio — On Feb. 23, seven Loudonville FFA chapter members joined over 180 other Ohio FFA members at Union High school for the National FFA Leadership 212 training program. Kourtney Hill, Abbie Stokes, Dustin Regan, William Snyder, Kyle Mellor, Mo Aounah and Miranda Ricketts went through the eight-hour leadership session taught by two National FFA presenters. They learned how to make better decisions by using the decision making key, learned how to meet others, learned the meaning of a virtue, and how to better introduce themselves to others, along with many other leadership information.

After the leadership sessions they were able to start some fun group activities for the whole night during the lock-in. There was square dancing until midnight followed by a pedal tractor pull, comedian hypnotist, “Minute to Win” type games, a frozen shirt contest and FFA attire relays.

ANDOVER, Ohio — The members of the Pymatuning Valley FFA celebrated National FFA week with a proclamation by he Ashtabula County Commissions declaring the week of Feb. 16-23 National FFA Week. Commissioners Joe Moroski, Dan Claypool and Peggy Carlo discussed the importance of agriculture and agricultural education in Ashtabula County.

Other highlights of FFA week were the involvement of the high school in many activities: hat day, nerd day, job day and Laker/FFA pride day.

The PV FFA members also held an appreciation breakfast for the staff, board members, alumni and many other supporters of the PV FFA chapter.

The eighth graders were invited to a leadership night and were involved in several leadership sessions.

BERLIN, Ohio — On Feb. 12, Hiland FFA members participated in the District 8 FFA Job Interview Contest at Buckeye Career Center. Members who participated in this contest were Jessica Davis, Preston Shamp, and Rachelle Yoder.

This contest is designed to help students demonstrate skills needed to seek employment in all areas of agriculture.

Davis placed fourth in Division 3; Yoder placed fifth in Division 2; and Shamp placed seventh in Division 1.

JEROMESVILLE, Ohio — On Feb. 19, Hillsdale FFA members competed in the Job Interview and Ag Sales Career Development events.

In job interview, Adam Cutlip placed first in the freshman division, Regan Badertscher placed third in sophomore division, and Cheyenne Spidel placed seventh in junior division.

The Hillsdale FFA Agriculture Sales team placed first at district competition. Individually, Megan Poynter placed first, Chloe Krebs placed second, Ashlee Cutlip, third; and Laura Yeater, fourth.

SMITHVILLE, Ohio — Four members of the Smithville FFA chapter competed at the district public speaking contest Feb. 27 at Norwayne High School.

Frank Becker competed in the beginning creed contest. Mattie Leway competed in the advanced creed contest, placing first.

Cassandra Kuehn competed in the beginning prepared contest with her speech about horse slaughter bans, and she placed third. Wren Hostetler placed second in the advanced prepared contest and will be competing in the state contest March 9 at Ohio State University.
