Lyle Printing and Publishing, parent company of Farm and Dairy, recently installed a new press at its Salem facility.

SALEM, Ohio – Lyle Printing and Publishing, parent company of Farm and Dairy, recently installed a new press at its South Howard web printing facility in Salem, Ohio.

Upgrade. The eight-unit installation is the second phase in updating equipment for the web press operation.

The initial phase in 2003 was the installation of a four-color unit that is capable of printing eight tabloid pages in four color.

Readers will benefit. The primary function of the web division is printing the company flagship publication, Farm and Dairy newspaper, which has been serving the tri-state area since 1914.

Circulation for the weekly now stands at 33,000 and the newspaper is available at more than 500 locations throughout the region.

In addition to Farm and Dairy, Lyle prints for commercial customers, including those with weekly and monthly newspapers. In addition, the web press is used for custom printing of catalogs and programs.

Improved quality. “With increasing demand for four-color printing in Farm and Dairy and from our commercial customers, we installed a quad-stack unit for our web press in 2003,” said Publisher Scot Darling. “And now with the recent installation of the eight units, the upgrade is complete.”

“We look forward to sharing the enhancements in our web operation with our customers and readers.”

The new press will reduce scrap, increase productivity and improve quality.

Lyle Printing and Publishing has been in the commercial printing business since 1890.

The home office, along with Farm and Dairy’s headquarters, is located at 185 East State St., Salem, Ohio. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 to 5 p.m. For information call 330-337-3419.
