Hello again:

It truly seems like I just told you my last deer hunting story … time does fly as we age. Another successful deer season week has come to a close. Several things are different this year at our farm. My husband passed away this past spring. I never had the chance to hunt deer with him. I have now experienced it.

I am all in, bought a Remington 1100, put a new scope on it and headed out with a friend. You know the whole idea of hype makes your blood pressure go up. Hiked a hill to the woods to crawl into a blind.

Sun was shining the leaves were glistening for the first two hours . . . then it thundered! What … poured down rain for 30 minutes … I question myself if I am a hunter. Then I caught the site of four deer headed towards us. This is why we hunt!!

So even though that was my recreational job, my real job is to promote and advertise the USDA farm programs. That being said, FSA Conservation Reserve Program General Sign-up is underway. USDA will accept new offers to participate in CRP under a general sign-up to be held Dec. 1, 2015, through Feb. 26, 2016.

Farmers and landowners interested in removing sensitive land from agricultural production and planting grasses or trees to reduce soil erosion, improve water quality and restore wildlife habitat are encouraged to enroll. For additional stories and FSA program information contact your local FSA office.

That’s all for now,
FSA Andy
