Hello from Hazard!

More readers sent responses to Item No. 708 (there’s a lag time from when we print this section and when you actually receive it in the mail so, no, they didn’t cheat!)

Our thanks to:

Harold Gingrich, Fredericksburg, Pa. (I knew there was a Fredericksburg, Ohio, but never knew there was one in Pa.!); Jim Cogar, Canton, Ohio; Hook France, Red House, N.Y.; Chester Lehman, Smithville, Ohio; Emanuel Schrock, Freeport, Ohio; William Metzger, Wellsburg, W.Va.; and Leroy Wagler, Hartville, Ohio.

Linda Dinsmore of Washington, Pa., is hoping to go three for three this week, with consecutive Hazard guesses. She’s the only reader who sent something in on Item No. 709.

But since Thomas Price, who shared the tool with Hazard, didn’t know what it was used for, we’ll have to wait for another reader to respond so we can confirm (or reject) Linda’s guess, which we’ll post next week.

So here’s Item No. 709 again this week. Any ideas how it was used?
