WEST SALEM, Ohio — The Northwestern-Wayne FFA chapter’s parliamentary procedure team traveled Dec. 18 to the state competition at The Ohio State University. Northwestern finished in fifth place overall.

Members of this year’s state parliamentary procedure team were president Chris Thomas, vice president Sabrina Johnson, Ashley Cromer, Zane Dilyard, Sarhra Flinn, Katryna Ousley, Sara McWilliams and Travis Clark.

Northwestern’s FFA chapter members volunteered to ring bells Dec. 18 and 20 for the Salvation Army.

DIAMOND, Ohio — The Southeast FFA participated in a citrus fruit and jerky fundraiser, selling about $13,000. The money raised will go toward senior scholarships at the annual Southeast FFA banquet.

The FFA also received a donation of $1,650 from the Farm Credit Service of Mid America, which will go toward the purchase of a new cylindrical finisher for ag classes. Also, some of the chapter officers will be applying for their state degrees.

OBERLIN, Ohio — The Firelands FFA parliamentary procedure junior team of Emma Ranney, Cole Jones, Callie Stevens, Chrissy Balint, Jordan Penkava, Emily Krieg, Curt Geary and Katie Cline competed Dec. 8 against the top teams from each sub-district.

The junior team won the contest, giving Firelands their first junior teams win. The team scored outstanding marks on the written test. Members also had an impressive demonstration at the contest hosted by Lorain County JVS. The students will receive a plaque.

ALBANY, Ohio — The Alexander FFA chapter went on a ski trip Dec. 28 at Mad River Mountain. Members had options to ski, snowboard or tube. The chapter went with the Federal Hocking FFA chapter.

THORNVILLE, Ohio — The Sheridan FFA will hold its annual Sheridan FFA Alumni Farm Toy Show at the Sheridan High School commons area, Jan. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is $2 at the door. Children 12 and under will be allowed to attend for free.

There will be door prizes, free toy appraisals, a pedal tractor raffle and a pedal pull. Pedal pull registration is from noon to 1 p.m. and the pull begins at 1 p.m.

There will also be a “Fat Boy” pull where any adult over the weight limit of the classes can pull. A concession stand will also be available

ALBANY, Ohio — The Alexander FFA Chapter worked as servers for the community meals program Dec. 14 which was hosted by The Athens Church of Christ.

The members the volunteered their time was Caitlyn Mullins, Stephanie Hartman, Frank Bail, and Stephanie Hawkins. The chapter gladly volunteers annually for this program during the holiday season.

The chapter also selected and purchased gifts for two young children through the Angel Tree program ran by the Athens County Children Services.
