HARRISBURG, Pa. — Five students from the Mohawk FFA chapter met with Sen. Elder Vogel and Rep. Jaret Gibbons March 12 to speak with them about agriculture and the FFA, at the 2013 State Legislative Leadership Conference breakfast.

Mohawk’s group worked at a neighborhood center in downtown Harrisburg. The students cleaned up a playground, washed shuttle busses, and helped prepare a group mailing for the center.

The Mohawk members were Anthony Romano, Dan Cowher, Chris Lindsay, Brandon Raney and Travis Singer.

Also speaking to the group were Gov. Tom Corbett, Secretary of Agriculture George Greig, and Secretary of Education Ron Tomalis.

MARIETTA, Ohio — The Warren FFA chapter held its 53rd annual Parent-Member Banquet in the Warren High School gymnasium recently.

A total of 20 greenhand degrees were given out to first year FFA members, 13 chapter degrees were given out to second year members and the honorary chapter member was awarded to Mike Congleton.

The new 2013-14 Warren FFA chapter officers include; Megan Haffner, president; Morgan Smith, vice president; Becca Giffin, secretary; Alexis Coffman, treasurer; Katlyn Coffman, reporter; Cole Welch, sentinel; Sheldon McCoy, student adviser; and Dakota Wentz, Andrew Fisher, and Wade Lynch, committee chairs.

The West Holmes FFA sent two members to compete in the state job interview contest March 2. In division II, Shyann Kick placed 10th, and in division III, Mandy Taylor placed seventh. Kick applied for a job as a farm worker, and Taylor applied for a job as a tutor.
