NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District is hoping to donate the Atwood Lodge located in Carroll County to an appropriate governmental or educational entity.

The conservancy district has owned the lodge for more than 45 years. Historically, the Atwood Lodge has not been a source of revenue for the MWCD, with money being lost in most years since it opened in 1965.

Although previously the district indicated the lodge would be razed, now it is hoping to find a new owner.
The district would like to transfer the ownership of the 600+ acre facility that includes: a 104-room hotel; conference center; and 27 holes of golf to an entity that can preserve and revitalize operations.

Chartwell Group, headquartered in Cleveland, has been retained to advise the conservancy district in the disposition the lodge. Terms of a ‘structured donation’ will include land, buildings, fixtures, mineral and timber rights of the lodge property.
