Preservation speakers come to Westmoreland Co.

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Howard Mansfield, author and lecturer, will be the keynote speaker at Westmoreland County Historical Society’s annual historic preservation conference March 14.

The conference, Preserving Special Places: Westmoreland County’s Historic Neighborhoods and Towns, will be at Ferguson Theatre at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.

It starts at 9 a.m.

Mansfield’s speech, “The Same Ax, Twice: Historic Preservation In A Throwaway Age,” is the theme from his most recent book.

Other speakers will discuss other aspects of the county’s past and preservation.

Conference registration is $15 and includes a continental breakfast, lunch and materials.

Reservation deadline is March 7.
