Two inducted into Ohio Wine Hall of Fame

DUBLIN, Ohio — Claudio Salvador, owner and winemaker at Firelands Winery, in Sandusky, and Lee Klingshirn, owner and winemaker at Klingshirn Winery, in Avon Lake, were inducted into the Ohio Wine Hall of Fame as the entire industry gathered in Dublin, Ohio.

Salvador

Salvador has served as a mentor, thought leader and innovator in the industry for more than 30 years. to the benefit of wineries far beyond his vineyards’ locations.

Educated at Italy’s foremost enological university, he came to the United States and committed to growing fruit and making wines as he has experimented with varieties once thought impossible to grow in the Lake Erie Region.

Klingshirn

Klingshirn is the third generation to grow grapes on the farm. After graduation from Ohio State University, he came home to bring innovation, expansion and a renewed commitment to both growing grapes and making wine.

His leadership helped shape numerous pieces of legislation which have enhanced the business climate with and among the growers and vintners in the state.

Klingshirn joins his father, Allan, as the third father-son combination in the Ohio Wine Hall of Fame.
