Butter Meltaways Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2-1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
  • additional sugar

Directions:

  1. Cream butter, oil and sugars. Add egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Gradually add to butter mixture. Chill for several hours or overnight.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Flatten with a fork dipped in flour. Sprinkle with sugar, and bake 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. Makes 4 dozen.
