- 1/2 pint milk
- 1/2 pint double/heavy cream
- 3 oz. caster sugar
- 5 oz. plain chocolate (grated)
- 1 teaspoon peppermint essence
- Optional: two or three drops of green food coloring
Place milk and sugar into saucepan and heat gently, dissolving sugar. Place milk to one side to cool and when cold, stir in cream and peppermint essence (and green food coloring, if desired).
Transfer mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze following manufacturer?s instructions BUT remembering to add grated chocolate as ice cream begins to thicken.
