HANOVERTON, Ohio — United Local FFA’s parliamentary procedure team won the subdistrict contest Nov. 21 at Southeast High School.

United took first place with 759 points, followed by Southeast with 754 points. In third place was Pymatuning Valley with 744.

Team members were chairman, Abram Zehentbauer; vice chair Haley Drake; secretary, Dawn Berry; reporter, Sam Hake; treasurer, Alex Hull; student adviser, Austin Berresford; sentinel, Levi Cooper; and member, Darrin Dustman.

The next competition will be held at Northwestern Wayne.

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Zane Trace High School hosted the district food science Career Development Event Nov. 15.

Zane Trace’s team of Jessie Proehl, Sarah Cox, Kassandra Dalton, Stephanie Glass, Eva Bugg, Heather Yeater, Beau Belik, Whitney Bellomy, and Nicole Jordan won the contest, with three members placing in the top four individuals. Jessie Proehl, Sarah Cox, and Kassandra Dalton placed second, third, and forth, respectively.

These three, along with Eva Bugg, will advance to the state contest at The Ohio State University.

At the Agricultural Communications CDE Nov. 8, Zane Trace FFA students Sarah Cox, David Glass, and Stephanie Glass placed sixth, with Cox placing fourth overall individually.

On Nov. 19, Zane Trace FFA members David Glass, Stephanie Glass, and Audrey Hoey attended Pickaway-Ross’ Farm Safety Day. They spent the morning educating children ages 3-11 about wildlife safety.

They identified wild animals common to this area, and stressed the importance of never approaching, feeding, or running from a wild animal. They also shared with the children and their parents tips for avoiding dangerous run-ins with wild animals while camping.
