THORNVILLE, Ohio — The Sheridan FFA meats team went to the OSU meat lab April 30 . Where the students had to identify several cuts of meat. There were three different species that made up the contest such as lamb, pork, and beef.

The Sheridan FFA meats team won first in state out of all the other schools in the state. Senior, Silas Oberhauser placed third individual Frankie Grum placed fifth, Cody Schwart placed eighth, Ashley Spillman placed tenth, Dirk Lewis placed eleventh, Justin Gallaher placed thirteenth, and Aaron Lones placed eighteenth.

Cotterman Brothers Processing provided the team with meat to give them “hands on” learning experience. Now that the team has won state the top four placers will go to National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. this fall to compete in the National meats contest.

All teams will identify cuts of lamb, pork, and beef. They will then have to take a test that has meat math and other meat questions.

HANOVERTON, Ohio —UnitedFFA would like to announce that they gave out two $250 scholarships at the United High School scholarship banquet.

The two scholarships went to Bryan Martin Jr. and Nichole Davis.

The scholarships were decided upon by the United FFA scholarship committee who are the United seniors that were not eligible for getting the scholarship.
